These Terms explain the rules for using HIT Foundation's educational platform, community programs, mentorship, webinars, projects, and collaboration features.
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of the HIT Foundation website, platform, programs, communities, events, learning resources, student dashboards, mentorship activities, webinars, projects, and related services.
HIT Foundation is an educational and community platform that helps students learn, collaborate, build practical skills, and grow professionally. These Terms are intended to keep the platform safe, useful, and fair for students, mentors, partners, and community members.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using HIT Foundation services, creating an account, joining a program, registering for an event, submitting content, or participating in any community activity, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the platform or participate in HIT Foundation programs.
3. Eligibility and User Requirements
You must be legally capable of entering into these Terms under applicable law. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the platform only with consent and supervision from a parent, guardian, institution, or other authorized adult where required.
You agree to provide accurate information, follow applicable laws, respect other users, and use HIT Foundation services only for lawful educational, professional, and community purposes.
4. User Accounts and Registration
Certain features may require account registration, event registration, form submission, or profile creation. You are responsible for keeping your account details accurate and protecting your login credentials.
You are responsible for all activity conducted through your account. You must notify HIT Foundation if you suspect unauthorized access, misuse, or a security issue involving your account.
5. Platform Services and Features
HIT Foundation may provide student dashboards, mentorship programs, webinars, projects, team collaboration spaces, community features, learning resources, certifications, hackathons, events, and future career opportunity features.
Services may change, pause, or be discontinued at any time based on operational needs, partner availability, technical constraints, program eligibility, or community requirements.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use the platform in a respectful, honest, and responsible manner. You may use HIT Foundation services to learn, collaborate, submit work, communicate with teams or mentors, and participate in approved educational and professional activities.
You must respect community guidelines, intellectual property rights, data privacy, platform security, and the rights and safety of other users.
7. Prohibited Activities
You must not misuse the platform, harass others, send spam, impersonate another person or organization, upload false or misleading information, commit fraud, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with platform security, distribute malware, scrape data without permission, or use HIT Foundation services for illegal or harmful activity.
You must not post or transmit content that is abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, threatening, exploitative, infringing, or otherwise unsuitable for an educational and professional community.
8. User Content and Intellectual Property Rights
You are responsible for the content you upload, submit, post, share, or communicate through HIT Foundation, including profile information, project materials, messages, documents, code, media, comments, and community contributions.
You confirm that you have the necessary rights to share your content and that your content does not violate any law, third-party right, confidentiality obligation, or intellectual property right.
HIT Foundation and its licensors retain ownership of platform design, branding, logos, software, content, resources, documentation, and other materials provided by HIT Foundation. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or exploit HIT Foundation materials except as permitted by us in writing or through platform functionality.
By submitting content, you grant HIT Foundation a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, format, and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, promote, and support the platform and related programs, subject to applicable privacy obligations.
9. Projects, Team Collaboration, and Community Contributions
Projects, hackathons, team submissions, community posts, and collaboration activities may involve work shared by multiple users. Team members are responsible for agreeing among themselves how contributions, credits, ownership, and permissions will be handled.
HIT Foundation does not guarantee that any project will be accepted, selected, published, funded, certified, awarded, or used by partners. Recognition, rewards, certificates, showcases, and opportunities may depend on program rules, review criteria, availability, and eligibility.
You are responsible for your interactions with other users, mentors, partners, institutions, and community members. Exercise good judgment when sharing personal information, files, links, credentials, or project access.
10. Mentorship and Webinar Disclaimer
Mentorship sessions, webinars, learning sessions, workshops, and events are provided for educational and informational purposes. They do not constitute legal, financial, medical, employment, academic, immigration, or other regulated professional advice.
Mentors, speakers, partners, and community contributors may share independent views and experiences. HIT Foundation is not responsible for decisions you make based on any session, communication, or learning resource.
11. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of HIT Foundation services may involve collection and processing of personal information such as contact details, registration data, profile information, participation records, submissions, communications, and technical usage data.
We handle personal information according to applicable data protection laws and our Privacy Policy. You should not submit sensitive personal information unless it is specifically requested and necessary for a program or service.
12. Third-Party Services and External Links
The platform may include links, integrations, embedded content, partner services, payment tools, communication platforms, event tools, video platforms, forms, or other third-party services.
HIT Foundation is not responsible for third-party websites, services, content, policies, availability, security, or practices. Your use of third-party services may be governed by their own terms and policies.
13. Account Suspension and Termination
HIT Foundation may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to any account, program, event, community space, dashboard, or service if we believe there has been misuse, harassment, spam, fraud, security risk, illegal activity, policy violation, harmful behavior, or conduct that affects the safety or integrity of the platform.
We may also remove content, limit participation, reject submissions, cancel registrations, or take other appropriate action to protect users, partners, mentors, institutions, and the platform.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
HIT Foundation services are provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, specific learning outcomes, project acceptance, internships, jobs, placements, interviews, certifications, rewards, funding, business opportunities, or career results.
Program availability, mentor availability, partner participation, event schedules, resources, features, and opportunities may change without notice.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HIT Foundation, its affiliates, directors, employees, volunteers, mentors, partners, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, opportunities, reputation, goodwill, or business arising from your use of the platform.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
16. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless HIT Foundation, its affiliates, directors, employees, volunteers, mentors, partners, contributors, and service providers from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the platform, your content, your interactions, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
17. Changes to Terms and Conditions
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect platform changes, legal requirements, operational practices, or community needs. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
Your continued use of HIT Foundation services after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, courts located in Tamil Nadu, India will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of HIT Foundation services.
